Investigating carbon type differentiation techniques for blast furnace dust

نویسندگان

چکیده

Coal char presence in blast furnace dust, indicates the inefficiency of combustion raceway. A retroactive approach has been applied by investigating carbon sources dust via type differentiation methodologies. The current state art for similar applications consists thermogravimetric analysis, however this technique does not allow samples to be analysed line with ever-changing conditions furnace. Here, TGA method trialled use improvements offered heating profile, allowing faster analysis. Moreover, alternative techniques have trialled, combination characterisation methods such as XRD, SEM/EDS, total and ICP-OES. ‘Winkler Method’ originally designed quantify charcoal soil sediment, successfully optimised showing good correlation original benchmark technique.

Electric Arc Furnace Slag and Blast Furnace Dust, Use for the Manufacture of Asphalt Concrete for Roads

This paper analyzes how feasible it is to use electric arc furnace slag as coarse aggregate, and blast furnace dust as fine aggregate in the manufacture of hot asphalt concrete for roads. Three mixtures were designed using the Ramcodes methodology, the M1 mixture of control with conventional materials, the M2 mixture replacing 50% and the M3 mixture replacing 100% of the conventional aggregates...

Influence of the Moisture Content on the Flowability of Blast Furnace Dust

In this paper the influence of the moisture content on the flow characteristics of blast furnace dust is investigated. The flowability of granular material is essential for the design and operation of dust separators, transport equipment and storage silos. Two blast furnace dust samples from different blast furnaces were investigated. The moisture content was adapted for measurement with the sh...

Effective Utilization of Blast Furnace Flue Dust of Integrated Steel Plants

Investigations were carried out on the effective utilization of blast furnace flue dust samples obtained from the two integrated steel plants at Rourkela and Jamshedpur. The samples essentially contained unburnt coke and iron rich grains as the value added products. Flotation technique was employed to recover the carbon values present in the sample. It was possible to obtain a product containin...
